![]() ![]() Plusnet support are trying to be helpful but say they have no experience in VOIP and have no ideas. Siemens Support keep suggesting the same loop of simple port changes/assignments that I have already tried. They are trying to help but it is a slow process with a 2 day turnround of emails. I am still talking to SIPGATE because, as well as the account, they also supplied the Siemens equipment. The only really strange thing is that I made a really minor configuration change on the A580 IP and it all started working (for just a short while) - it then stopped without changing anything and has not uttered a bleep since. However, sipgate thinks it is ringing because it says the call is not answered (or it diverts after n seconds if that is what I have asked it to do) Incoming VOIP calls do not ring either on the VOIP phone or on the calling handset. Outgoing VOIP calls ring the number being called (but you cannot hear the ringing on the VOIP phone)ģ. I know the A580 is (at least partly) working because it handles landline calls correctly.Ģ. On recommendation in a forum that said SIP handling on 5060 is sometimes broken and gets in the way, I did an unbind of 5060 from SIP (using TELNET)ġ. I built a specific sipgate application in the router, attached all the appropriate ports and then assigned this to the A580 IP.Ħ. I tried alternative ports as they recommend in their troubleshooting document (49060 for SIP and 49004-49020 for RTP).ĥ. I turned off the firewall in the routerĢ. So then I started on my voyage of discovery.ġ. When I first set it up it seemed fine, I could call out, but incoming calls did not ring. This connects to the router and handles VOIP traffic (+ a connection to landline). I did that, got the details and successfuly tested it with my FritzFon here before travelling to the UK.Īs I already had a router (TThompson TG585 V8) provided by the telecom provider (Plusnet), I bought a Siemens A580 IP box (from Sipgate). No problem I thought: I just set up an account with attached to a local German Number. I have had a UK sipgate account for some years with a phone connected to my FritzFon router here in Germany giving me a UK number.Īs I am now approaching retirement, (even if the date keeps receeding into the future), I have bought a house in the UK and I want to set up the reverse in order that my wife can contact me cheaply.
